Girl in the Gym

30 Jun

Was in the gym earlier and overheard a girl on the stair machine talking to the guy next to her…

"Life is hard these days.  I work a fulltime job, a parttime job, and I’m in school.  You have to do a lot to pay the bills."

If you say so…

Appreciate Your Bills

25 Jun

If you are like almost every other person in the world when the monthly bills come in, you feel down. There’s a drop in your energy knowing that the money you have worked hard to earn is about to go back out the door to someone else.

You are looking at those bills the wrong way.

Let’s take a new look at the bills you pay every month.

First, the fact that you are paying bills means that you have the money to pay for things you need and want. Those who have no bills also often do not have the things they need or want, because they cannot afford them.

Do you have a credit card bill to pay?  What does that credit card stand for? Trust. Someone has put their trust in you to give you money in advance to purchase the things you want and need by giving you that credit card.

The same can be said for utilities, and other bills that allow you to use their service first, then pay for it later. They have trust in you as a person to pay your obligations, and that you will be able to make the money to do that.

Consider what happens when you pay your bills. That money is going back out into circulation to do more good, generate more prosperity, and likely come back to you as a piece of your path to prosperity.

Bless your expenses and appreciate the bills as they come in. When they first arrive, hold them in your hand and know they will be paid and that you will continue to be able to enjoy your life in a comfortable way.  You can even go as far as writing a blessing on the envelope, such as, “I bless this expense, because by receiving it, it means I have been able to acquire the things I want and need in life.”

The expenses we have every month are a sign of our growth, our responsibilities, and as those bills are paid and we enjoy the life we have created, that is a sign of our prosperity.

Opening to Receive

23 Jun

If you’ve been stuck in a cycle of lack for any length of time, you may have forgotten how to receive.  In order to get prosperity flowing effortlessly into your life again, you need to consciously open yourself to the abundance that is rightfully yours.

This can be more challenging than it seems at first glance because so many of us have been taught that it’s good to give but greedy or selfish to take.  If you want to expand your ability to receive, you will need to first change this belief and replace it with a healthy dose of self-worth.

If you don’t believe you deserve abundance, it’s no wonder you don’t have it!  Every time something good comes your way, you are in effect telling the universe, “No, I can’t accept this.  Please give it to someone else.”

Accepting goodness and abundance for yourself does not mean you are taking from others.  In fact, the more resources you have at your disposal the better able you are to help others.  Once you wrap your mind around this and understand the importance of being able to receive, you will be well on your way to increasing the abundance in your own life and in the lives of others.

Below are three simple steps that can help you open to receive in your own life:

1)    Find the blessing in every situation.

You may be so used to focusing on what you’re NOT receiving that you can’t clearly see what you are receiving in every situation.  Focusing on the blessing does not mean you have to live in denial, but rather choose your perspective moment to moment.  Just as you can easily focus on the negative, you can focus on the positive.  What is the payoff for you with each choice?

2)    Be thankful for everything you receive.

Of course you should be thankful for everything you have, all the blessings and goodness in your life.  But what about the things you RECEIVE each day?  Did a stranger smile and greet you this morning?  Did you receive an unexpected coupon for your next shopping trip at the supermarket?  Did you receive a nice card of thanks from a co-worker?  Were you greeted by a spectacular sunrise this morning?  When little things like these happen, express your gratitude to the universe.  It may seem like a small thing, but your focus on these little “gifts” each day will begin to attract more of them.

3)    Consciously “open” yourself to receive.

Whenever you can think of it, pause for a moment, close your eyes and imagine yourself opening to the limitless abundance of the universe.  Affirm that you are open to receiving the gifts and blessings the universe has in store for you, and give thanks for them – even though they haven’t arrived yet.  Simply express your certainty that they will, and your willingness to remain open to them.

The more you focus on exercises like these, the more you release your resistance to abundance and the more easily it can come flooding into your life from every direction.

You Play an Active Role in Making Money Come to You

20 Jun

When it comes to being prosperous, you must take part in the plan in order for money to come to you.

You’ve heard people say it, “I need money, but God will give it to me.” Then they just sit back and wait, expecting a handout to come their way.

That is not the way it works.

When you know you need more money, or a change in your path to prosperity, you will feel it in the form of divine discontent. That is when you find yourself regularly saying, ‘There must be more to life.”  You feel there is more out there for you, but you don’t know what it is or how to get it.

You can’t just sit around and sulk, feeling there is more that should be happening in your life, you have to do something to make the change come about.  Open yourself up to the possibilities of new paths and channels to show themselves to you.

If you don’t know which part of your life path needs to be changed, ask for guidance.  Begin by asking for an answer to the discontent you feel. Ask to be shown the problem that you need to solve.

Once you have discovered the problem and you are confused as to how to correct it, ask for assistance in finding the right way to go.

Clear yourself of the things that may hold you back as you continue on your path to prosperity. This could be other people who speak negatively and bring your positive energy down. It could also be limiting thoughts within your own mind. The road to prosperity needs to be kept free and clear.

Make daily use of an affirmation such as, “I am open to the next portion on my path to prosperity, and all obstacles are cleared out of the way.”

In addition to saying this, you have to believe it, feel it and see it.  When you say this affirmation, picture a clear path in front of you, with your goal at the end.

Ask for Guidance

17 Jun

Many people don’t like to ask for help.  Pride gets in the way.  This can be seen in a person who is lost on a drive and keeps circling a neighborhood showing up late, instead of stopping to ask for directions.  Maybe it’s someone who is struggling with a heavy load, but instead of asking for assistance, tries to do it all themselves, and ends up with a back injury.

These are both situations that could have been easily solved, without negative consequences by just asking for help.  That principle holds true when you are on your divine path as well.  You can try to make it alone, and take the chance of getting tripped up, going off on a wrong side road, or any number of consequences, or you can just ask for help.

When you are on your path to prosperity, you may notice a feeling nagging you inside that tells you it is time for something to happen, something to change.  You must open up to the changes and let them know it’s ok to come, then ask for help taking the right route in this change.

Use an affirmation such as, “I am prepared for the next step in my path to prosperity. Show me the path I am supposed to be on and help me find the way.”
After you start saying the affirmation daily, and open yourself up to guidance, you need to keep your eyes open.

Not always is guidance in the right direction a very obvious sign.  It could be. It may even be a billboard for a new job opportunity that gets your attention, but it could also be something much more subtle, a few words in a conversation that trigger something inside, or a passage in a book that seems to have a strong meaning to you.

Take note of these little nagging feelings, those are the gentle pushes showing you which direction to go.
One you feel them, write down what made you get the nagging feeling, and how it made you feel. If you still cannot decide on the action to take, you can once again ask for guidance through your affirmations to lead you the right way.

Becoming a Prosperity Magnet

13 Jun

Have you ever wondered about people who seem to naturally attract good stuff?  They have no shortage of money, a circle of great friends, loving and healthy relationships, great jobs, limitless possibilities – everything seems to come so easily to them, while you struggle and scrape by.

These people know the secret to living prosperously – and you can learn it too!  It’s simply a matter of changing the way you think, feel and act – which will change the results you get in life.

Here are three major components of living a prosperous life:

1)  Follow your passions.

Those prosperous people in your life do not settle for mediocrity, have you ever noticed that?  They likely have interesting jobs and they aren’t afraid to try new things.  Each day is a new adventure for them, and they make a habit of squeezing every drop of joy out of life that they can.

You can easily do the same by first giving some thought to the things you feel passionate about.  What did you used to love to do when you were a child?  What hobbies or creative pursuits do you enjoy now?  If you can’t come up with any ideas right away, explore!  Try new activities.  Sign up for some classes and try new things.  Let your heart lead you in whatever you do, and before you know it you’ll be living passionately too.

2)  Believe in the possibilities.

Prosperous people know that as good as things are right now, they can always get better.  They believe in the limitless possibilities that exist for their lives, and they quickly take advantage of opportunities that come their way.

You can begin to adopt this same heightened awareness by expanding your concept of what is possible for your life.  Keep affirming that your life is not static.  Everything within and around you is in a constant state of flux – nothing stays the same, ever.  Learn to embrace change, consult your inner guidance and take action on improving your life, and you will automatically call in greater opportunities.

3)  Believe you deserve it.

Prosperous people have no doubt whatsoever that they deserve the goodness in their lives.  They are open to receiving all the blessings and abundance they believe they deserve, and they gracefully (and gratefully) accept.

You may not feel that you have worth issues, but ask yourself how you react when someone gives you a compliment or an unexpected gift.  Do you express your thanks and gratitude, or do you try to refuse it or dismiss it?  If you are in the habit of turning away goodness in all its forms, you might have an underlying belief that you don’t deserve it.  Start building a stronger belief in yourself and affirm that you deserve much more than you have now.  Express gratitude for the blessings in your life, and when good things come your way – embrace them!

If you keep up with these activities on a daily basis, you will transform yourself into one of those people that seem to have a prosperity magnet embedded in their brains.

Keep Pushing for Prosperity

11 Jun

When you know it’s time to move forward on your path to prosperity, you will feel some sort of discontent, something will be pulling you in a direction of saying, “There must be more than this.” You will then start to search for that something more.

Eventually a channel will open up to show you the way.  Once you have followed that side channel, you may think the work is done.  You may convince yourself there is nothing more, and that you just need to sit and wait.  Think again.

Unfortunately many people suffer from feelings of insecurity or incompetence, believing that a small step is ok, and something we can do, but large steps or multiple steps are beyond us, or that we are undeserving.

Your path will not be filled with things that you cannot make it through or overcome, although it may look that way.  You need to remember that when you see coming steps that cause fear inside.

You need a more positive attitude going into the situation.   Know that the situations, thoughts and channels that are made available to you are there for you to use and prosper from. Do not be afraid of them, or think you are not worthy. They were put there for you!

Also, while you may have made a shift on your path to prosperity, you can’t assume only one turn was necessary. There could be a number of steps, curves and turns, and you could be stopping too early.  Luckily, you will likely get an extra push. You will feel the little push or tug, and you will know that is God pushing you a little more to complete the job at hand.

Say your affirmations. Remind yourself that you will not allow obstacles in your way. Know that the nagging feeling inside to do more is God’s way of telling you there is more to be done, and there is more that you can do for yourself, and that you are capable of doing it. Tell yourself that there are no roadblocks you cannot overcome on your path to prosperity.

Developing an Abundance Mind-Set

6 Jun

Do you feel abundant in every area of your life?  If you’re like most people, you probably feel blessed in some areas, but maybe not so much in others.  It is possible to expand your mind-set to not only see more abundance around you but also attract more abundance into your life.

First, it’s important to recognize the differences between a mind-set of abundance and lack.

A lack focused mind believes that there is never enough to go around: never enough money, resources, love, opportunity, friendship, passion, excitement or fulfillment.  This perspective acknowledges a shortage of everything desirable, therefore it is necessary to grasp and grab to get whatever it can before someone else comes along and takes it.  A lack focused mind sees the glass as half empty, and dwells on problems and challenges instead of blessings and joy.

An abundance focused mind believes just the opposite of a lack focused mind.  It believes that there is more than enough for everyone so there is no hurry to grasp what it can right now.  It believes in a never-ending flow of prosperity and joy, so it can take its time and enjoy the moment.  An abundance focused mind sees the glass not just as half-full, but overflowing from a constantly bubbling stream feeding it from beneath.

How do you switch from a lack mind-set to an abundance mind-set?  By choosing an abundant outlook moment to moment!  You have to be willing to ignore your old inner messages of lack and emptiness, and begin replacing them with new messages of hope and plenty.

Here are three simple ways to start:

1)    Become aware of the abundance all around you.

When you visit a large supermarket or department store, pause for a moment and notice the massive abundance in the form of material goods surrounding you.  All of these things were created from nothing, and turned into something useful by a person with a vision.  Think about how this process could be used to bring more abundance into your own life.

2)    Keep affirming you have more than enough.

Remember, a lack focused mind dwells on what it DOESN’T have, while an abundant mind focuses on what it DOES have.  Rather than worrying about having enough, affirm that you have enough!  Say things like, “I always have plenty of money,” and “I am so incredibly blessed.”

3)    Give.

When we feel like we don’t have “enough” our first response is usually to hold onto what we have a little tighter.  This sends a powerful message of lack to the universe! Instead, start sharing your time, money and resources with others.  Do so with a heart full of gratitude and confidence that whatever you send out will return to you tenfold.  (Note: you don’t have to give on a large scale either, just a few dollars or an hour of your time can generate a new cycle of abundance in your life.)

Keep up with activities like these and before long, you’ll find yourself automatically feeling more abundant – and attracting greater wealth, love, joy and miracles at every turn.

Money is Good

4 Jun

Money is not the root of evil.  Lots of people say it is. Lots of people believe it is. But if you are one of them, you will be sending the money and prosperity you want away from you.

Where does money come from?  Sure, it’s made in a mint, but before that.  As in everything else in our lives, money is from God. It was created by God.  At some point God decided to give someone the idea to create money, and that was the beginning of the economic system we know today.  If money is created by God, how can it be bad? It’s not!

Money built your church. Money also built hospitals that heal, and schoolhouses that teach.

Money is necessary in life. Consider a typical day. You wake up in the morning in the home or apartment you had to pay money for, in order to keep a roof over your head.  You had breakfast, from the groceries you used money to buy.  You get dressed, in clothes that money had to buy, then you get in your car, which was purchased with money, and it carries you to work, assuming you had used money to put enough gas in it to take you to your destination.

Money is an essential part of our lives.  It is also a spiritual part of our lives. It was given to you by God and, if you choose, you can use it to do good things for God. That could be in the form of giving some of your paycheck to a charity so they can continue to help others, or it could mean paying for a higher education, so you are a better role model for others and can help them live up to their potential in life.

We are, indeed, living in a material world, but that does not mean all material goods are bad. All things are created by God, from the hands of God for us to use. So, it cannot be the money and material items that are bad, it is how we use them.
